The power supply has two capacitors (C1, C2) switched between an input contact (12) for supplying an input voltage (Vin) and a ground potential (GND) in series for closing a group of switch elements (S1, S3, S6, S8) and opening another group of switch elements (S2, S4, S5, S7). The two capacitors are switched between the input contact and the ground potential in reverse order for closing the latter group of switch elements and opening the former group of switch elements. An output contact (14) is provided between the capacitors for measuring the halved or doubled output voltage (Vout). The switch elements are MOSFETs, insulated-gate bipolar transistors and bipolar transistors.
