The device has a measuring unit i.e. semiconductor sensor (2), attached to a cable section. The section is centrally inserted into a hollow body (3). The hollow body is inserted into another hollow body or a porous packed bed (4) fills out the former hollow body and/or the latter hollow body. The unit is connected to a digital data bus. Each hollow body is designed as a tube made of PVC and/or steel or as a hose/shrink hose made of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, plastic, glass fiber and/or metal. The hollow body is flexible and pressure-waterproof. The bed is made of sand, glass or ceramic. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring underground temperature.
