The component i.e. hat shelf (10), has a plastic base body (12) molded at a deep drawing sheet or inner high pressure deformation mold part (20) i.e. hollow carrier, where the component is attached at an adjacent body component of a vehicle at a connection area via welding, soldering, punching riveting, clinching and screwing processes. The connection area is formed by metallic joining elements (34) that are enclosed by the plastic base body area-wise. The joining elements are accessible from a single side or two sides, and designed as sheet metal parts and screwing nuts. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing and mounting a composite component for a motor vehicle.
