The method involves generating recesses (2a-2c) and/or apertures (3a, 3b) in two regions on two sides of a flat film (1) i.e. polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film, respectively. The recesses and/or the apertures are filled with filling materials (4a, 4b) e.g. curable polymer and adhesive, such that a plane surface is formed on each of the sides of the film, where the filling material is different from a material of the film. The recesses are produced with different depths, diameters and/or geometries, where the curable polymer is transparent or translucent in a visible spectral region. An independent claim is also included for a security or value document comprising a flat film with recesses in a region on a side.
