The container has a resealable lid comprising a closure structure (4) and a complementary mating structure (6), where the closure structure is provided with a molding (5) that engages positively into a retainer of the mating structure. The molding is formed at the closure structure by local expansion of a foamable polymer layer of a film (3) that is designed as a shroud of a thermally formed plastic base part (1). The mating structure comprises a groove (7), where the molding of the closure structure engages with the groove. The polymer layer comprises expandable polystyrene. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a packaging container.
