The device has a conveyor (1) for serially transporting shaped bricks (2) to a shaped brick handler. A stone recognition unit (7) is arranged in a region of the conveyor to recognize alignment of the shaped bricks on the conveyor by light radiations emitted transverse to a conveying direction of the shaped bricks. The stone recognition unit recognizes edges (22) of the shaped bricks. The conveyor includes a V-shaped guide path with planar guide walls (5a, 5b) in a region of the stone recognition unit, where the guide walls are arranged to each other at an angle of 90 degree.
