The lift has a platform (2) moved along a vertical mast (1) to individual floors (11-15) by a motor. Separate floor channels (6-10) are cooperated with a radio receiver of a control device (3) of the platform. The platform comprises a display touch pad with a floor indicator e.g. signal lamp or LED, and a standard directional indicator. The floor channels are equipped with a wall support on the floors. The control device includes a programmable microprocessor controller with an operation unit. The touch pad is operatively connected with the microprocessor controller of the radio receiver. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a building lift.
