The switchover valve (1) has a ballpoint mechanism (2), which is engaged by applying an actuating impulse to an actuating unit (3) of the ballpoint mechanism and is coupled with the switchover valve in such way that the two engagement positions corresponds to a respective switching position of a control piston (6) of the switchover valve. The control piston of the switchover valve is displaceable in opposite direction of the actuating impulse around a predetermined path. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine.
