The method involves determining times of occurrence of events by functional blocks for measurement and digitization of times relative to internal or external reference signals. The events before inputs of functional blocks are delayed periodical or aperiodical by an auxiliary signal. Digital original data of the functional blocks is linked with one another and/or with the auxiliary signal such that the modulation of a delay is removed from the events by subtracting an auxiliary variable from the events. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for measuring time in a measuring system for time-correlated counting of detection events.
