Fluorescence detection device for high performance liquid chromatography device, has evaluation unit determining lifetime of excited state of analytes by pulsed time-correlated individual photon count or by modulation fluorometry
The device (10) has a semiconductor light source (12) i.e. laser diode, for producing fluorescence excitation light (24). A power source e.g. modulator (16), is utilized for providing a pulsed or time-modulated power supply. A photomultiplier-detector (32) is utilized for receiving a fluorescent emission from analytes present in a mobile phase. An evaluation unit (36) determines lifetime of fluorescence light (26) and lifetime of excited state of analytes by pulsed time-correlated individual photon count or by modulation fluorometry with modulated power supply. An independent claim is also included for a method for fluorescence detection in the liquid chromatography.
