The method involves introducing a pipe meander with a circular cross section with an alternating arc and straight sections into a mold (10). The pipe meander is pressed to obtain a D-shaped cross-section of a portion of the pipe meander such that a D-shaped cross-section is achieved in the straight sections. The pressed pipe meander is removed from the mold, and heat transfer elements e.g. heat guidance film and support plate, are connected with the pressed pipe meander, where the pipe meander is made of metal or gypsum cardboard. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a pipe meander for a surface heat exchange element (2) a mold for manufacturing a pipe meander.
