The method involves automatically defining an electrical parking brake of a vehicle i.e. motor car, by activating an alarm installation of the vehicle, regardless of the settings of the electric parking brake due to an activation of an electronic immobilizer. The automatically defined electrical parking brake is automatically loosened by starting a motor or plugs-in of an ignition key when the alarm installation is deactivated and a driver's door is unlocked.
