The system has multiple solar cell modules (1) comprising a base plate (1.3) and solar cells (1.1) for generating electric power from sunlight. A power supply unit (2) merges electrical power contributions from the modules. A data communication equipment transmits the electric power from the modules to the supply unit via a low-frequency electromagnetic coupling. The communication equipment comprises a flattened and elongated overlay portion (2.1) e.g. flexible strip, film or laminate strip. A ferromagnetic attaching unit (3) is made of iron or steel nail. The base plate includes a roof tile or a roof plate made of weather-proof and mineral material such as shale, asbestos cement replacement, stoneware or ceramic material.
