The modular orthosis system (1) has a lower leg cuff (4) and an ankle cuff (8), where each cuff has a retainer (21) for a support spring (12). The supporting springs are graded according to different weight and size classes of patients. Each of two end portions (14,16) of the support springs at the lower leg side and ankle side has similar dimensions. The supporting springs are made of carbon fiber or carbon fiber containing materials.
