The method involves switching attitude of a set of magnetic valves (14a-14d) i.e. solenoid injection valves. A working magnetic valve (14b) is controlled such that the working magnetic valve is switched and a reference magnetic valve (14d) is not switched for forming differential voltage (24) and/or difference current between a signal against a coil (16b) of the working magnetic valve and a signal against a coil (16d) of the reference magnetic valve. Quick start of the working solenoid valve and the reference solenoid valve is cancelled simultaneously. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program for operating a combustion engine (2) a control and regulating device for operating the combustion engine.
