The rail has a lighting device formed from elongated profile bodies, and an electrical lighting element (4) i.e. LED, provided in a profile body (1). The body has a continuous light-emerging-side opening that is partly covered by a light-diffusing or light-distributing transparent optical element (7). A molded part (9) is fastened parallel to a longitudinal axis of the body to a side lying opposite and turned away from the opening, where the width of the molded part is greater than or equal to the maximum width of the profile body.
