The method involves determining data, which displays compaction state of two parts of a material region over two depth regions with a compaction measurement system, where one of the depth regions is deeper than the other depth region. Data, which represents the compaction state of the parts of the material regions over two display regions, is displayed, where the depth region comprises overlapping depth regions. The compaction states of the parts of the materials regions are determined during transition of a compaction unit (10) over the material regions. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system for compaction measurement (2) a machine comprising a compaction unit.
