The method involves detecting electrical voltage levels and electrical current values of an electric circuit and converting the voltage levels and the current values into respective signals. A phase shift and an effect factor are determined from the voltage levels and the current values. Measured or determined data is accessed by a HTTP server and transferred from the server on a local area network (LAN) and a gateway. Remote access to the data is provided by a wide area network (WAN), which works in correspondence with a transmission control protocol (TCP)/Internet protocol (IP). An independent claim is also included for a device for recording electrical performance data with load current greater than 16 amperes.
