PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system capable of easily and efficiently setting the transmission wavelength of a transmission signal to be transmitted, and an optical communication apparatus and optical communication wavelength control method to be used in the optical communication system.;SOLUTION: The optical communication system includes a first optical communication apparatus and a second optical communication apparatus which mutually transmit and receive a transmission signal, wherein the first optical communication apparatus generates a wavelength control signal, inserts the wavelength control signal in a main signal and transmits it as a first transmission signal, while the second optical communication apparatus receives the first transmission signal, extracts the wavelength control signal from the first transmission signal and determines the wavelength of a second transmission signal on the basis of the wavelength control signal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
