PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus capable of performing efficient image pickup corresponding to the intensity of external light, an image display system and an image pickup method.;SOLUTION: The image pickup apparatus 10 includes an irradiation unit 11 and irradiates an object O with light having a plurality of wavelength regions from the irradiating unit 11. Respective intensities of light having the plurality of wavelength regions are controlled by an irradiation control unit 17. A wavelength region calculation unit 16 finds a wavelength region in which the intensity of external light is the lowest among the plurality of wavelength regions which can be irradiated by the irradiation unit 11. The irradiation control unit 17 controls the light of the wavelength region in which the intensity of external light is the lowest which is obtained by the wavelength determination unit 16 so as to be irradiated from the irradiation unit 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
