The electrochemical cell for water disinfection, comprises a first subset comprising an anode (11, 12), a conductive connection linked to the anodes and a first dielectric plate (4), and a second subset comprising a cathode (21, 22), a conductive connection linked to the cathodes and a second dielectric plate (5). The first and second dielectric plates are used as a device for centering and maintaining anode plates and electrical insulation of plate ends. The anodes and cathodes are supplied by an electric current through conductive connections (13, 23). The first and second dielectric plates are used as a device for centering and maintaining anode plates and electrical insulation of plate ends. The anodes and cathodes are supplied by an electric current through conductive connections (13, 23) and are placed in a laminar or quasi-laminar box equipped with nozzles for feeding and evacuating water to be treated, of which the walls are traversed by such conductive connections. The electrodes are constituted of plates of which the opposite catalytic faces are symmetrical and have identical surface area. The box is designed to circulate water to be disinfected in the space existing between catalytic face opposite to the electrodes. Platinum is provided of a slit in which the anode and cathode are jointed until the external face of the plate shows the edge of the anode against the conductive connection. The plates associated with the anodes and cathodes comprise grooves on its internal side. The position of the grooves and the slits belonging to the first plate is defined to ensure the desired spacing and parallelism to the anodes and cathodes. The subsets form a set intended to be introduced in the state, within the box that is made in two juxtaposed parts. The plates are identical. The box is able to hold the sets comprising a number of different electrodes of which the spacing is different. The plates comprise openings on each side to maintain the ends of side bars of which the thickness is determined to prevent the circulation of water to be treated between the extreme electrodes and walls with respect to the box.
