The electrochemical cell for water disinfection, comprises a first subset comprising an anode (11, 12), a conductive connection linked to the anodes and a first dielectric plate (4), and a second subset comprising a cathode (21, 22), a conductive connection linked to the cathodes and a second dielectric plate (5). The first and second dielectric plates are used as a device for centering and maintaining anode plates and electrical insulation of plate ends. The anodes and cathodes are supplied by an electric current through conductive connections (13, 23). The box is designed to circulate water to be disinfected in the space existing between catalytic face opposite to the electrodes. Platinum is provided of a slit in which the anode and cathode are jointed until the external face of the plate shows the edge of the anode against the conductive connection. The plates associated with the anodes and cathodes comprise grooves on its internal side. The box is able to hold the sets comprising a number of different electrodes of which the spacing is different.
