The train has an electric machine (1), which drives wheels of a vehicle on distinct ratio by a speed changing mechanism, where two ratios are obtained by engaging fixed pins (8, 9) with idly-rotating pinions (11, 12) on a secondary shaft (13) of the mechanism. A shaft (21) is intercalated between the idly-rotating pinions, and a jaw clutching device (24) is associated with a free wheel. A coupling device is controlled by independent activators.
