The device has a removable rail (21) for surrounding an opening of a pit, and comprising a control screen (80) and a centering and fixation unit (30). The centering and fixation unit centers and fixes the rail on the opening of the pit. A drive unit (40) drives an endless screw in rotation for displacing a neutron flux detector between lower and upper positions. An anchoring and displacing unit (50) anchors and displaces a connection plate. A support unit (60) supports cables. A visualizing and illumination unit (70) visualizes and illuminates interior of the pit. The rail is formed by a metal framework. An independent claim is also included for a method for remote intervention in a pit containing a neutron flux detector of a tank of a nuclear reactor.
