Food additive comprises eugenol and cinnamaldehyde, where the additive further comprises at least one sulfonyl compound (I). Food additive comprises eugenol and cinnamaldehyde, where the additive further comprises at least one sulfonyl compound of formula (R- SO a-S-R1a) (I). R, R1a : 1-5C alkyl, preferably propyl; and a : 1 or 2. An independent claim is included for reducing methane emissions in the terrestrial atmosphere, comprising adding the food additive to the diet of a ruminant and providing the obtained diet to ruminant for eating.
