The method involves emitting an acoustic masking signal by using a buoy (102) of a boat (101), and providing a shape including zero directivity to a radiation diagram (105) of the acoustic masking signal. The zero directivity is oriented for reducing jamming of sonar (109) of the boat through the buoy. Emission of the acoustic masking signal is triggered when the buoy is at a distance (D) from an assembly of a linear acoustic antenna (103) and the boat such that the assembly is contained in an angular sector centered on the zero, where the sector is formed by half-lines (107, 108). An independent claim is also included for a buoy for jamming a wire guided torpedo launched against a boat.
