The cup (1) has a part (2) defining a hemispherical shaped cavity (3) for pivoting an insert (10), where the insert is made of synthetic material. The insert is mounted a spherical head (14) of a prosthetic femoral rod (11). Another part (4) is extended from an equatorial plane (P) of the former part, and defines an entry of the cup. The latter part comprises an internal surface (5). A restricted section is provided at a free edge (8) of the latter part with respect to a section of the latter part at the equatorial plane to form an undercut. An independent claim is also included for an ancillary provided with a gripping element.
