The apparatus (10) has an elongated body (11) longitudinally engaged along an axis of a tube (1) of a drill rod through one of its ends such that an axis of the body is joined with the axis of the tube. A central body (12) is mobile axially in the body against an elastic element (14). A detecting and measuring system (15) detects and measures displacement of the central body along the axis of the body. An axial positioning identification mark (16) is carried by the body to measure axial displacement of the body with respect to the tube of the drill rod.
