Surface roughness controlling device for bearing of e.g. spindle of crankshaft, has sensors angularly distributed in determined angular sector in regular and symmetric manner with respect to bisecting line of sector
The device has a sensor support (1) provided in the form of a V-shaped support groove formed on a cylindrical surface (4). The support carries a set of detection sensors i.e. linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) sensors (6-10), to detect distance separating each sensor from the surface when the surface contacts the support. The distance is measured along the surface. The sensors are angularly distributed in a determined angular sector (A) in a regular and symmetric manner with respect to a bisecting line of the sector. The angular sector is 10 degrees. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling concentricity of a cylindrical surface.
