The device i.e. automatic abraser (1), has a frame (10) comprising walls (11, 12) for forming a machining chamber (13). A watering circuit (40) emerges in the machining chamber, and has a water supply conduit (41) equipped with a water flow adjusting unit i.e. valve (46). A distributor (47) orients water from the conduit towards an ophthalmic lens (100) and/or a machining unit (30) to wet the lens and the machining unit in a functional state of the distributor. The distributor orients the water towards the walls for rinsing the walls in another functional state of the distributor.
