The device (10) has a filling nozzle (14) connected to a liquid source to be introduced into a container (11), and control units for controlling quantity of liquid introduced into the container. A volumetric control system (16) is equipped between an end (15) i.e. tip, of the filling nozzle and an outlet opening (12) of the container to control the quantity of liquid in real time during a filling phase. A volumetric counting unit (24) i.e. volumeter, in a part (18) of the volumetric control system measures liquid flow at an outlet of the filling nozzle. An independent claim is also included for a method for filling liquid in a container of a motor vehicle.
