The device has an open carrier (2) mounted pivotingly on a chassis (1) similar to a chassis of a lorry. The carrier has an articulated hinge (21) associated with a latch (20), and hooking points (41, 42) temporarily fix a flexible elongated chain (3) on the hinge and on the chassis, respectively. A lock (5) deactivates one of the points over a control and releases the chain from the point. The chain maintains the hinge in a position defined by an opening angle (AO) equal to a safety limit, when the chain is placed in a safety configuration in which the chain is hooked to each point.
