Optical device for bidirectional optical transmission line, has grating, where angle, dimensions and nature of grating and waveguide are such that polarizations of beams are respectively guided in waveguide in opposite directions
The device has an optical fiber (50) with an end coupled to a diffraction grating (46) defining a light beam (52) in an enlarging surface of a nanophotonic waveguide (44) formed on an optical sheath. The beam carried by the fiber attains the surface and forms a non-zero angle with a normal to the grating. The waveguide quasi identically propagates two polarization light beams. The angle, dimensions and nature of the grating and the waveguide are such that orthogonal polarizations of the beams are respectively guided in the waveguide in opposite directions (54, 56) with polarization states. An independent claim is also included for a bidirectional optical transmission line comprising an optical fiber.
