The method involves authorizing establishment of a session (C1) if a parameter of number of sessions (C1, C2) currently relative to a user (UA) is lower than a number of authorized sessions, where the parameter is provided in a session manager. The establishment of the session is authorized using an application module (320) by calculating a unique identifier of the user from user identification information in the request, and searching the manger associated to the identifier from a group of session identifiers. The processing of the request conforms to a session initiation protocol. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for authorizing establishment of a session in a communication network (2) a computer readable information medium comprising a set of instructions for authorizing establishment of a session in a communication network (3) a device for authorizing establishment of a session in a communication network.
