The system has a portable apparatus i.e. mobile telephone, comprising a global positioning unit that includes a display unit for displaying a plane of ski tracks. The global positioning unit includes a correspondence table that connects points on the plan of the ski tracks with geodetic co-ordinates. An independent claim is also included for a method for establishing a correspondence table.
