The cylinder (1) has a hollow piston (3) fitted on a guiding rod and supporting an element i.e. assembling panel joint, before being lifted by the cylinder. Lower and upper interlocking devices (6, 7) are arranged at a piston head and at an end opposite a hollow cylinder body (2). The interlocking devices block respective displacements of the cylinder body and the piston head when the body and the head are subjected to force directed downwards. The interlocking devices permit sliding of the body and the head on the guiding rod when the body and the head are subjected to force directed upwards. An independent claim is also included for a method for lifting a framing structure by using a double-acting cylinder.
