The device has a clutch control software including a generation module (1) that generates a value of an engine rotation speed setpoint (omega-tgt) and a clutch torque setpoint (Cembtgt) from speed (V) of a vehicle (5) and a position (P) of an accelerator pedal. A regulation device i.e. proportional-integral-derivative (PID) type regulation device (3), regulates an engine rotation speed around the engine rotation speed setpoint value. An open loop calculates the clutch torque setpoint value. A closed loop regulates the clutch. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a displacement phase of a vehicle during an action of a driver on an accelerator pedal.
