The method involves deducting part of exhaust gases in downstream of a gas purification element (9) by a deducting unit i.e. temporary gases storing tank (11). The exhaust gases are deducted in a deducting unit downstream (12) and/or the deducted gasses are reintroduced in an upstream (13) of the purification element. A value of volume of the deducted or reintroduced gases is estimated according to a characteristic parameter of an operation condition of an internal combustion engine (1) or exhaust line (8). The deducting unit comprises a flexible pocket covered with a PVC film. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling pollutant emissions in an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine.
