The tensiometer has a deformable element deformable by rotation of a gripping body (10) around an axis transverse to a racket string (9) and parallel to a median plane passing between support elements of a racket string stressing unit (2) at an overlapping state of the support elements on the string. Measurement units measure relative rotation between the body and the stressing unit, and are formed by a potentiometer (5) and potentiometer actuating units having a gear (7). The potentiometer and parts of the actuating units are integrated to the body and the stressing unit, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining tension of a racket string using a tensiometer.
