A web-based system that allows a user to book a berth in different marinas. A web server may (i) generate a web page that enables any person holding a berth at one of the marinas to access the server to indicate that his berth is available for use at a defined time and that (ii) enable the user to locate, book and pay for that berth, with a payment being made automatically to the person holding the berth. Prior art approaches require the mooring manager alone to indicate that specific berths (generally visitor berths) are available. But by enabling any berth holder to indicate that his berth is available for use, the number of available berths is vastly expanded.
