Heat transfer apparatus with turbulators

Heat transfer apparatus comprises a wall 66 exposed to a fluid flow F and a plurality of turbulators 100 disposed on the wall, each turbulator having an upright front face 102 which generally faces the direction of flow, and a back face 104 which defines a ramp which tapers from the front face to the wall. The heat transfer apparatus may comprise part of a turbine nozzle which also comprises a hollow vane and an arcuate band disposed at an end of the vane and having a flow path face adjacent the vane and an opposed back face. The back face includes at least one open pocket defined in part by the wall which is recessed from the back face, opposed ends of the wall merging with the back face, and wherein the pocket is exposed to a fluid flow.
