Embodiments of the invention provide an apparatus having processor configured to: (a) provide a user with access to the user's financial account via a graphical user interface; (b) determine user preferences based at least partially on the user's financial information; and (c) provide non- financial content to the user via the graphical user interface and based at least partially on the user preferences. In one embodiment, the processor is configured to determine user preferences by determining trends in the user's financial information. In one embodiment, the processor is configured to determine user preferences by distinguishing between user financial transactions that are regular and user financial transactions that areadhoc.
