PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the yield of a welding steel wire and to reduce manufacturing cost thereof by stably manufacturing the welding steel wire containing REM.;SOLUTION: This invention relates to the welding steel wire 1 used for gas shielded arc welding, wherein: alloy steel powder containing 2 to 60 mass% of REM and the balance comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities is included in a steel covering 2; and when the mass of alloy steel powder 3 is taken to be MPW (g) and the mass of the steel covering to be mSH (g), an inclusion rate 100×MPW/(MPW+ mSH) of the alloy steel powder in the welding steel wire falls within a range of 0.01 to 25.0 mass% and when the mass of REM contained in the alloy steel powder is taken to be MRE (g), then, the content percentage 100×MRE/(MPW + mSH) of REM in the welding steel wire falls within a range of 0.01 to 0.5 mass%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
