PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily purifying little colored 3,3',4,4'-biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride powder, and to obtain a highly transparent polyimide by using the little colored 3,3',4,4'-biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride powder obtained by the method.;SOLUTION: In the method for purifying 3,3',4,4'-biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride powder, a solvent with solubility at 25°C for 3,3',4,4'-biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride of 0.1 g/100 g or higher and the 3,3',4,4'-biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride powder are mixed together in the heterogeneous condition wherein at least a part of the 3,3',4,4'-biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride powder does not dissolved, and subsequently the undissolved 3,3',4,4'-biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride powder is separated to be collected from the mixed liquid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
