PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately evaluate the ejection characteristics of a recording head used for an inkjet recording apparatus, without increasing the area of a detection pattern.;SOLUTION: The present invention prints a plurality of ejection characteristics detection patterns, in which recording duties are different from each other, are recorded (S401). Each of the plurality of ejection characteristics detection patterns is divided into areas with a prescribed number of pixels, and each area is read with a plurality of read colors that are different from each other (S403). Based on the read values by the read color for each area, evaluation values, by the read color that indicates ejection variation volume that is the difference between ink ejection volume to each area and standard ink ejection volume, are set (S406). A weighted average value is obtained by applying the weight determined based on reading accuracy of a reading part to evaluation values by the read color for each area with different recording duties formed by the same nozzle (S407).
