PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for detecting a deviation of a sample voltage above or below a predicted range.;SOLUTION: An AD converter 1 (successive approximation type AD conversion device) having a DA converter 4, a comparator 5 and a successive approximation register 6, and predicting a possible range of a sample voltage to determine upper n bits of the successive approximation register 6 beforehand and then AD-converting the sample voltage to generate output data includes a Max/Min value generation circuit 10 (generation circuit) and a Max/Min value comparison circuit 11 (data comparison circuit). The Max/Min value generation circuit 10 generates a maximum predicted value and a minimum predicted value of the predicted range of the sample voltage on the basis of the upper n bits of the successive approximation register 6 determined beforehand.
