PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of sorting hollow fiber membranes which can easily sort and detect the leak thread of hollow fiber membrane modules having defective parts without leaving any contained components such as a coloring liquid and a fluorescent dye on membranes even after sorting, and to provide a method of manufacturing hollow fiber membranes which repairs the defective parts continuously detected.;SOLUTION: Thread materials are inserted into specified hollow fiber membranes among hollow fiber membrane modules in which many hollow fiber membranes (1) are bundled, and in which both ends or one end is fixed with an adhesive (2) to be discriminated from the other plural hollow fiber membranes. The specific hollow fiber membranes (1) are hollow fiber membranes having defect parts in hollow fiber membrane modules.
