HIGH RESOLUTION SAR IMAGING USING NON-UNIFORM PULSE TIMING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system including a non-uniform pulse generator and an echo receiver.;SOLUTION: An SAR image is reconstructed from a sample of a received echo and a transmission pulse and a reflected echo are temporally superposed. The transmission pulse has a comparatively high average pulse repeat frequency capable of achieving high azimuth resolution. Respective transmission pulses intersect each other at right angles or mutually non-coherent and achieve separation of a superposed received pulse. Reconstruction means is recursive. The reconstruction means uses compressive sensing. Pulse timing is random or pseudo-random. The pulse timing is periodically non-uniform. Lacked data from superposed pulses exist in temporally different relative locations. The lacked data are uniformly dispersed in the SAR image and coverage of a target area is substantially uniform.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
