PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bromine-containing organic compound which imparts high flame retardancy and thermal stability to a resin when it is compounded with the resin.;SOLUTION: The bromine-containing organic compound is represented by formula (1), a flame retardant contains the bromine-containing organic compound, and a flame retardant resin composition contains the flame retardant and a resin.
