PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem: a conventional non-contact sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) determining device cannot correctly determine SAS because it cannot recognize a phenomenon that only the breast stops and abdomen activates in an apnea state during sleep.SOLUTION: This SAS determining device is configured so that the breast and abdomen of a sleeping subject are irradiated with a microwave, a microwave Doppler shift signal obtained from a reflected wave is subjected to Fourier transform, the frequency component of a fundamental wave is compared with that of an odd-number harmonic, and the normal respiratory state of the subject and his/her abnormal respiratory state are determined on the basis of a result of the comparison. In this way, the apnea state of the subject during sleep can be correctly determined.
