PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head gimbal assembly capable of accurately positioning a near-field light generating element provided in a slider and a light supplying section for supplying light to the near-field light generating element.;SOLUTION: The head gimbal assembly has a reflective film for positioning provided in the vicinity other than an incident end in a slider side of a near-field light generating element, and supplies, after having brought a light supplying section into contact with the incident end of the near-field light generating element mounted in the slider, light from the light supplying section. In the head gimbal assembly, a part of the supplied light is incident on the near-field light generating element, the remainder of the light is reflected on the reflective film for positioning and is incident on the light supplying section again, the light which has been incident again is received by a photodetector, and the light supplying section and the slider are positioned using the change of output electric characteristics of the photodetector.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
